Built for South African mobile numbers

Stop answering calls from people you don't know.

ZAVoiceAI picks up first. It asks who's calling and why in a short, natural conversation — then rings your phone only if it's worth taking, or leaves you the transcript if it's not.

Your existing number, your existing SIM. No porting, nothing new to hand out.

The problem

Your number is public. Everyone with a dialler knows it.

Once a number is on an invoice, a listing, a form, or a "please call me," it ends up in call centre lists you never agreed to. Most of what comes through isn't for you — it's for whoever answers.

South African numbers took an estimated 17.47 billion spam calls in the first half of 2026 alone — up 25% on the year before, putting the country among the five most spammed in the world. Truecaller Insights, 2026

01

Cold sales and insurance calls

Funeral cover, solar, timeshare, "your vehicle's warranty" — the same scripts, several times a week, from numbers you've never saved.

02

Scam and spoofed numbers

SIM-swap attempts, fake bank security lines, "OTP" pressure calls — the ones that count on you answering without thinking.

03

Calls you can't take right now

In a meeting, on the road, or just not free — and no way to know if this one was actually worth interrupting for.

How it works

Three steps. No new number, no new SIM.

ZAVoiceAI sits between your carrier and your phone using standard conditional call forwarding — the same feature your network already offers.

1

Turn on conditional forwarding

Dial your network's forwarding code once — something like *61*+27...# — so calls you don't answer route to ZAVoiceAI instead of voicemail. Takes under a minute, and you can switch it off the same way.

2

Unrecognised numbers get answered

ZAVoiceAI greets the caller in your own words, asks who they are and why they're calling, and holds a short, natural conversation — not a menu, not a beep.

3

You get the call, or the transcript

Numbers you've marked as trusted ring straight through, no screening. Everyone else gets a transcript you can read live, and you decide whether to jump in, call back, or let it go.

Features

What's actually in the app

No filler settings. Every feature below is built to change how a specific call plays out.

Live call screening

An AI receptionist answers on your behalf and finds out who's calling before your phone ever rings.

Trusted numbers

Family, close contacts, work — anyone on your list bypasses screening completely and rings straight through.

Live transcript

Watch the conversation appear as it happens. If it turns out to matter, take the call over mid-screen.

Custom greeting

Write what your receptionist says when it picks up. Sound like your business, your household, or just yourself.

Transfer number

Route a screened call to a colleague, partner, or assistant when you genuinely can't take it yourself.

Keep your existing number

Runs on carrier-level call forwarding on the SIM you already have. Nothing to port, nothing new to give out.

See it in action

The actual app, screen by screen

No mockups — this is ZAVoiceAI running in Internal Testing right now, screening a real call over a real Twilio line.

Who it's for

Built for people whose number doesn't stay private

Agents and freelancers
Your number is on every listing, quote, and business card you've handed out.

Small business owners
The line that used to be quiet now takes ten sales calls a day.

Anyone tired of spam and scam calls
You want a real screen, not another blocklist app that misses half of them.

People who are just busy
You'd answer if you knew it mattered — you just don't know until it's ringing.

FAQ

Before you ask

Do I need a new number or SIM?+
No. ZAVoiceAI works with the mobile number and SIM you already have, using your network's own conditional call-forwarding feature. You're not porting anything or giving out a second number.
Which networks does it work with?+
Any South African network that supports standard conditional call forwarding — Vodacom, MTN, Cell C, and Telkom all do. The app shows you the exact forwarding code for your line during setup.
What happens to calls from people I already know?+
Add them to your trusted numbers list once, and calls from them ring straight through — no screening, no delay. Screening only applies to numbers you haven't recognised.
Can I still take a call myself while it's being screened?+
Yes. You can watch the transcript as it's written and step in to take the call over the moment you recognise it's worth your time.
Is my call data private?+
Your settings and transcripts are scoped to your account only and are never shared with other ZAVoiceAI customers. See the privacy policy for the full detail on what's collected and why.
Is ZAVoiceAI available for iPhone?+
Not yet — ZAVoiceAI is Android-only for now. iOS restricts the kind of call-forwarding integration this relies on.
How is this different from Truecaller?+
Truecaller identifies a number from a community database and lets you block it — useful, but it's still your phone ringing. ZAVoiceAI answers first: it holds an actual conversation with the caller and only rings you if it's worth your time, whether or not the number's ever been seen before.
